The Name
You may be wondering: What does My POP Coach mean, represent and how did the name come about?
You may also be curious about the logo and what it portrays.
Great questions. I'm glad you asked. 😊
I am well known amongst those who have met and come to know me for being very positive, optimistic and looking for the good side of things and people. Some have given me the nickname, Mr. Positivity.
I have an immense love and respect for life and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to share in the experiences of life with others. I believe we are all special, unique, amazing and one-of-a-kind with special talents, skills, abilities and personalities of our own.
We all have the amazing opportunity to be able to share and contribute to others with the blessings we have been provided. We can also receive blessings from others in the same fashion.
I believe life is so much more fulfilling when we can approach it from the standpoint of loving life, loving ourselves, loving others, loving our creator and loving the human experience.
We can know and express how fortunate we are to be a parent to our amazing kids and what an honor and privilege it is to be Mommy or Daddy. I know I am blessed and never tire of hearing those words!
Of course, our human experience certainly has its ups and downs, highs and lows, jubilation and challenges of all sorts, which makes the ebbs and flows of life very interesting and certainly very challenging at times.
What I have come to recognize and realize for myself, however, is that even if there is a circumstance that is totally out of my control, the one thing I can control is how I view and choose to react to the circumstance, which can make all the difference. We can fully embrace life with all its highs and lows while making a positive impact on the world around us and beyond.
Ok, if you have read this far, you are probably saying, ok Mike, that’s great, but what does that have to do with the name… again, I’m glad you asked 😊
Some time ago, I heard a quote that said: “Negative is Normal and Positive is on Purpose”. That really stuck with me. When I was thinking about the name for my business, I came up with lots of ideas and I kept coming back to this thought.
The name I landed on has the word POP which began as an acronym for “Positive on Purpose”. As I was thinking more about it lots of other acronyms that represented good thoughts and practices also showed up:
- Positive on Purpose
- Power of Purpose
- Progress over Perfection
- Passion over Perfection
- Performance over Perfection
- Performance over Procrastination
- People over Profit
- Philanthropy over Profit
- Parenting over Policing
… and lots more…
If you have others that come to your mind, I’d love to hear them as well.
Another realization that came about as I was deciding on the name, was that one of the names I have for my own father is... you guessed it... "Pop". Nice coincidence huh :-)
The Logo
Besides, the word POP, you’ll obviously see that I have made it into a smiley face representing happiness, smiling and positivity.
Additionally, I have connected the lines of both “P” letters to represent two people coming together in unity and support. Parent to child, friend to friend, coach to child, coach to another adult, etc.
Lastly, coming out of the letter “O”, there is a celebration of excitement, jubilation, and happiness.
It can also symbolize popping a balloon with confetti erupting out like popping our limiting beliefs and negative thoughts and replacing them with good, wholesome, positive, life-enhancing ones.
Additionally, it can represent “mind-blowing” / “mind-expanding” / “mind-enhancing” aha moments with new ways of thinking and doing things.
… so what’s in a name?... apparently lots!
